A Communal Fondue – Welcome!

Born and raised in beautiful Southern California and a lover of all things chocolate, I am here to encourage, inspire, and empower my students, friends, and family. In the process, I aim to add a glimmer of hope in a world full of darkness. I model my life after the Spirit of Christ and the principles of humanitarians such as, Mother Teresa, Princess Diana, and Mahatma Gandhi.  I also have the fight and determination of greats like Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Cesar E. Chavez.

If I had to sum up my life’s motto into one phrase, it would read:

“You must be the change you want to see in the world.”

~Mahatma Gandhi

This blog is just a speck of my ever-evolving thoughts about life, language, literature, love, and everything in between.

It’s one large melting pot of ideas, philosophies, opinions and theories housed within 62 inches of quirky fabulousness (yes, I know this is not a word in the “real” world, but in MY world, it is). Part of it is for my students’ learning acquisition, and the other is for my own personal sanity – I will allow you to decide which is which.

  1. The video stated a phrase “you’ll never be good enough for yourself.” I can relate because I tried to lose so much weight because, I thought I was fat and tried to become what I seen a magazine. so yes I think media has a negative effect on children, teens and adults

  2. I think this is a great quote by one of my personal heroes. Any man who could cause so many changes with out firing a single bullet or throwing a single punch is the kind of example I can get behind.

  3. I can relate to this phrase because growing up in newyork was hard so I moved down south and seen myself doing better in life because of the surroundings and I seen my self in school and taking my education to the next level as of now.

  4. The phrase from Mahatma Ghandi reminds me of myself and how i tried to inspire all of my friends to go to college. But with all my efforts i failed. I tried to inspire them because life is hard in this “world of darkness” and if you ever want to reach the light, success, you got to make something of yourself!

  5. The phrase “You must be the change you want to see in the world,” just gave me a very different outlook on life. We as people have to be an example of our up-coming generations. They are a reflection of us, and if we expect more from them, we have to better leaders.

    • I’m happy to hear you were led to a place of personal reflection. Please remember to post a comment to the 5 posts under the English 1010 category; this post is actually a personal (non-academic) post so I truly appreciate your comment.

    • I like this phrase because my wife and I strive to be role models for our children. My childhood was never good and I try to give my kids all the love I never had but always wanted .
